Just a few random contemplations as I sip on my iced tea and vanilla soymilk....

- Why is it always the skinny people that complain the most about their weight?

- Why, with some people, do you get more respect getting out of prison than college?

- Why do I only seem to attract either 15-year-olds that look like me mid-puberty, scary old gay men with bodies like rubber chickens, or hoodrat girls that approach in herds??

- When is Comcast (Or Wide Open West) gonna pick up that channel that's supposed to be like BET (Made for an African-American audience), minus the rap videos and the sports shows??

- Speaking of rap videos, why is the point of most of them to see how many half-naked girls can push up on an ugly guy in a football jersey and gold teeth??

- Why do we have over 800 episodes of Dragon Ball, yet only one OVA of Shinesman??

- Why is J-R&B so hard to find? Outside of the compilation CD from Tofu Records, I can't find any!

- If our economy is improving so much, why is it still so hard to find a job?

- Why has there never been a Black chick as the Pink Power Ranger??

Randomness is fun!

I've been having loads of fun lately with Ruthie and Xander! I didn't expect to become so close to them, and I certainly didn't think it'd become the three of us against the world. Ever since Bowling Green, there's been a bond that's formed between us. I guess it's because we have a lot in common. Of course, we all like anime and CGT majors. But, it's also the stuff that's not at the surface. Like, each of us has a somewhat overprotective single mother, a family that cares a lot but can be a little, well, misunderstanding, we've all had issues with schooling (Only I'm the only one of the trio that was never homeschooled), and we're all not very rowdy, unlike many of the people that are around us. Maybe it's that we just generally like each other? Perhaps it's that they're about the only people that I've befriended that aren't full of drama AND that I can see on a regular basis? I know I've seen more of them in the last few months than I have of pretty much anyone I've hung out with. In fact, except for about two Saturdays, I was around Ruthie at some point every weekend for the last two months or so!

Maybe I'm finding out who my friends really are. I mean, I can hang with the rowdier crowd, but I can only take so much of them. Plus, I have a feeling that I've just given one of my friends license to say something reaaaaally stupid. Let me explain; On Saturday, my friend Ryan and I were talking at the anime club, and we came upon the subject of me hearing that another friend said that he hated Black people. Now, I confronted him on it, and he told me that it wasn't true. But, after talkign to Ryan, I found out that they said they (Because he feels this way, too) didn't like "stereotypical African-Americans", and used UPN as an example. This made me a bit uneasy. I don't think they're racist, I just don't want people to think that I won't care if they say something that's potentially offensive to me. Maybe I'm just blowing things out of proportion, but I have to be careful. I have to remember not to go completely go off, but it's 2004. People should know what's acceptable to say to someone and what's not! And I don't want to hear any patronizing crap! I don't want people telling me that I'm basically a credit to my race, which is the type of mess that people would say back in, say, the 70's (My mom heard that when quite a bit when she was younger). Let's face facts, I am a Black American of mostly African descent, and I'm not ashamed of that fact. I may not act like the stereotypes depicted on BET, but I know that people shouldn't be hated solely for the fact that they may appear to follow a stereotype. Saying you hate a certain group is essentially being prejudiced, no matter what the group! I just hope no one forgets that I won't tolerate any unfair comments towards myself. I hope that they don't think I'll sit idly by and just accept their negative speech. And, most of all, I hope they don't think that they won't get told about themselves if they cross the line!!
